TEHRAN (IQNA) – A group of Pakistani Shia Muslims will set up a Moukeb during this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage in Iraq.

Moukebs are resting places with special facilities and services for pilgrims set up on roads leading to Karbala during the pilgrimage.

The Moukeb will be launched on the road between Najaf and Karbala in cooperation with the Tanzil Quranic Center of Lahore.

In addition to providing services to pilgrims, it will hold Quranic programs.

The Tanzil Quranic Center is a Shia center in Lahore that works to promote the teachings of the Holy Quran and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

Arbaeen comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.

In the past few years, around 20 million pilgrims from all over the world took part in the mourning ceremonies in the Iraqi holy city marking Arbaeen.

Arbaeen falls on Tuesday, October 30, this year.
