Ghana Hosts Muslim Youths Regional Convention

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A gathering of Muslim youths from a number of Western and Central African countries was held in Ghana earlier this week.

The three-day conference was organized at Bolgatanga region and attended by some 3,500 young Muslims.

They were from ten provinces of Ghana as well as nearby countries, including Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mali, Nigeria and Uganda.

A number of Quranic, religious, cultural and social issues were discussed at the gathering.

Al-Haji Molavi Noor Muhammad bin Saleh, a senior religious figure of Ghana, was among those who addressed the event.

He underlined the need for teaching the Quran to the youth and encouraging them to implement Quranic teachings in society.

Ghana is a country in West Africa. Islam is one of the major religions practiced widely in the country. Its presence in modern-day Ghana dates back to the 10th century.

Muslims make up about 24 percent of Ghana’s population.
