TEHRAN (IQNA) – Mohammad Hassan Movahedi is in Tunisia to compete for Iran in the North African country’s 16th international Quran competition.

He is representing the Islamic Republic in the category of Quran recitation. Movahedi left Tehran for Tunis on Saturday.

While Iranian memorizer of the entire Quran Mohammad Javad Moradi had also been scheduled to compete in the category of memorization, he could not travel to Tunisia on time due to some problems.

Quran expert Mohammad Hossein Saeedian had also been planned to accompany Movahdei and Moradi, but he, too, failed to make it to Tunisia.

Named after Allamah Bin Arafah, the competition began on Saturday and will run until Thursday.

Other countries participating in this year’s edition include Palestine, Lebanon, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Algeria, Sudan, Iraq, and Qatar.
