Eight Qaris went on the stage on the second night to showcase their Quranic talents.
Six of them- those from Turkey, Croatia, Maldives, the Philippines, Montenegro and South Africa- were competing in the men’s section and the other two in the women’s section.
Every recitation took between ten to fourteen minutes to complete.
The representative of the Philippines had by far the best performance on the second night and received the biggest applause.
According to Iranian Quran master Hadi Rahimi who is accompanying Iran’s representative Hadi Movhed Amin in the contest as a guide, the Filipino Qari had a very good performance and could be among the top three winners but the other Qaris of the night did not perform well.
A total of 107 Qaris and Quran memorizers from 71 countries are taking part in the international Quranic event.
It will be underway in Kuala Lumpur until April 20.
