Malaysia Int’l Quran Contest: 10 Memorizers, 8 Qaris Vie for Top Prize on 4th Day

TEHRAN (IQNA) – On the 4th day of the 61st edition of Malaysia’s international Quran competition, 10 memorizers and 8 reciters went on the stage to showcase their Quranic talents.

 

According to IQNA dispatches, Thursday’s contestants were representatives of Kuwait, Sudan, the UAE, Malaysia, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Jordan and Britain in the men’s section and those from Niger and Nigeria in the women section of the memorization category.   

In the category of recitation, Iran’s Hadi Movahed Amin and Qaris from Morocco, Brunei, Turkey, Algeria and Singapore competed in the men’s section and two women also showcased their talents in the other section.

Hadi Rahimi, an Iranian Quran master who is accompanying Movahed Amin in the competition as a guide, told IQNA that so far, the Iranian Qari has had the best performance among the recitation contestants.

Other favorites to win the top prize in this category include those from the Philippines and Algeria, he said.

As many as 107 Qaris and Quran memorizers from 71 countries are competing in the international Quranic event.

It will be underway in Kuala Lumpur until April 20.
