50 Expatriate Students Attend Al-Azhar Quran Competition

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The second international Quran recitation competition for Al-Azhar University’s foreign students has been underway since April 22.

 

According to Sada Al-Balad, the Union of Indonesian Students in Cairo has organized the competition in cooperation with the World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates.

The opening ceremony of the Quranic event was attended by the ambassador of Indonesia to Cairo and a number of Al-Azhar scholars and teachers who serve as the arbiters of this edition of the competition.

The university’s Sheikh Zayid Center for teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers is hosting the competition, attended by 50 foreign students.

The union held the first edition of the international competition for students from more than 20 countries last year.
