Winners of Virtual Quran Competition in Tanzania Named

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The winners of a Quran competition held virtually in Tanzania were announced and awarded.

The contest was organized by the Iranian Cultural Center in the African country during the holy month of Ramadan.

The participants sent a recorded video file of their recitation of the Quran to the website of the center.

The four contenders whose recitations received the most views on the website were awarded.

Yassem Muhammad Haruna, Zulnaeila Muhammad Ali, Mustafa Makunga and Muhammad Abdulah Makdam came first to fourth respectively.

Tanzania is a country in East Africa where Islam is the religion of about 35 percent of the population.

On the mainland, Muslim communities are concentrated in coastal areas, with some large Muslim majorities also in inland urban areas especially and along the former caravan routes. More than 99 percent of the population of the Zanzibar archipelago is Muslim.
