800-Year-Old Zaher Baybars Mosque in Cairo in Pictures
After a decade and a half of restoration work, the historic Zaher Baybars Mosque in Cairo welcomed worshippers again in early June 2023.
The mosque, which dates back to the 13th century and is named after the Mamluk sultan who built it, is the third largest in Egypt. It boasts a distinctive minaret, a spacious courtyard and a rich history of religious and cultural significance.
