According to al-Watan Online, the handwritten copy weighs 154 kilograms.
Ahmed al-Sha’abi, a historian and scholar with Tayyiba University in Medina, says the copy was made in Pakistan’s Sindh Province and gifted to the Prophet’s (PBUH) Mosque (Al-Masjid an-Nabawi).
He described it as a rare copy and one of the largest handwritten Qurans.
It is in Naskh script and there are Persian translations on the margins of each page, al-Sha’abi said.
The Quran exhibition in Medina opened in the holy city on Wednesday, September 9.
Titled “Quran and Its Message”, the expo is aimed at highlighting the importance of the Holy Quran’s message for humanity.
Different Quran copies, including rare manuscripts, are among the data-x-items on show at the expo.
