TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Punjab police in India has made three arrests in relation to sacrilege of the sacred Muslim Holy Scripture ‘Quran Sharif’ in Malerkotla on June 24th.

Pages from the Holy Scripture were found ablaze in Malerkotla that resulted in violent protests by the Muslim community.

Punjab police said that the trio culprits of sacrilege were arrested on a tip off near Sangrur in a Mahindra Jeep. Three pairs of surgical gloves, a 50-gram gold coin, a gold chain and a white gold bead chain were recovered from the trio culprits.

They have been identified as Vijay Kumar (resident of Jind of Haryana), Nand Kishore Goldy and his son Gaurav (both residents of village Begowal of Pathankot). As per media reports, Vijay Kumar is a well-established businessman who is currently residing in Delhi and Gaurav was working as an employee in his Bio-Fertilizer firm.

It has come into light that Nand Kishore Goldy is the State Secretary of Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the trio culprits were upset over the Pathankot and Gurdaspur terror attacks.

The Chief Organizing Secretary of the Youth Akali Dal Amritsar, S. Papalpreet Singh, said that it was very unfortunate that radical Hindu organizations who claim to be plaintiffs of ‘National Integrity’ are demolishing the communal harmony in Punjab. He sought strict action against these culprits.
