IQNA – The Leader of the Islamic Revolution has planted an olive tree in a measure that he described as solidarity with oppressed Palestinian people.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei planted three saplings on Tuesday in his office premises on the occasion of the National Tree Planting Day.

A cypress sapling and a fruit tree sapling were also planted by the Leader.

In a brief address, he stressed that planting trees was a “profitable” investment, referring to the benefits of trees including how they can confront growing air pollution.

Pointing to the philosophy of planting an olive sapling this year, he said it was “an announcement of solidarity with the oppressed and very resilient people of Palestine.”

“This symbolic action was a greeting to them and aimed to tell them that we always remember the Palestinian people, even when planting trees.”
