He was born into a family of Quran reciters and memorizers in 1937 in Egypt’s Gharbia Governorate, according to al-Wafdnews website.
At an early age, Mohamed started learning the Quran by heart and then Quran recitation.
He graduated from Al-Azhar Islamic Center in 1968.
Mohamed joined Egypt’s Quran Radio in 1961 and then became a Qari in the state TV in 1963.
In 1970, he came first in a contest in Malaysia named the best Quran recitation and memorization in the world.
He also attended many international events and served as a member of panel of judges in international Quran competitions.
