The 29th edition of Croatia’s international Quran competition wrapped up on Saturday night and the winners were announced in a ceremony at Zagreb Mosque, in the European country’s capital.
According to a statement by Croatia’s Islamic community center, the event was held in four categories, namely, recitation, memorization of five Juze (part), memorization of 15 Juze, and memorization of the entire Quran.
In the last category, the top prize went to Safia Mohamed from Sweden who earned 99.55 points. Salih Aljariri from Libya stood second with 99.45 points and Ali Gholam-Azad from Iran earned third place with 99.25 points.
Speaking to IQNA upon his arrival in Tehran, Gholam-Azad hailed the “high” level of competition.

Iranian representatives clinched top places in the memorization category of the 27th and 28th editions of the event.
