Yousef Salameh along with several family members, fell victim to an Israeli airstrike targeting his residence in the central Gaza Strip on Sunday, as reported by the official Wafa news agency.
The Maghazi refugee camp bore witness to the tragic incident, where Salameh, 69, a former preacher at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East al-Quds, lost his life. His ministerial tenure in Awqaf spanned from 2005 to 2006.
The Israeli offensive on Gaza, since October 7, has seen relentless air and ground assaults. Health authorities in the strip report a toll of at least 21,822 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, killed, with 56,451 others sustaining injuries.
